I was contracted as the scenic charge for Barber of Seville with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. The set designer was Tony Hardin, who knows me well and whom I have worked with on various other shows. Myself and my assistant worked with the scene shop to get the door and stair units painted as they were being built. Tony gave me the initial rendering above to create colors from stock for this show. After my first attempt on one of the door pediments, the director thought that the color scheme was too dark for the show. So I used the colors I had already mixed and adjusted them to a lighter hue that was more appropriate for the show. I also supervised the hours for myself and my assistant and reported them to the stage manager for payment reasons.
