I was the scenic charge for She Kills Monsters. I supervised various assistants throughout this show as my assistants were generally stagecraft students fulfilling their shop hours. My main responsibility was working with the designer in creating the world for the show. The inspiration for this shows design was taking the grid paper from the game Dungeons and Dragons and mixing it with the reality the show is placed in. The floor and walls contained the grid lines with a split in the colored walls as a symbol for the game taking over reality for the characters. Each grid was measured and lined with chalk prior to painting the blue lines. Next was the line that was the split between D and D and reality, which was a scumble of white to gray to black. The last step for the walls was an ombre of each of the four colors. I then took the facing of the platforms and painted the stone work on those. The timeline for painting was set back which caused trouble when it came to painting the floor. The floor was not painted until the two platforms were installed so as we were painting we would have to move the platforms around to get to all the edges.
