Good Kids was a great design experience for me. I was the assistant lightening designer which was an area in theatre that previous to this position I had not had the opportunity to explore. My responsibilities began with reading through the script and creating a preliminary que list. After that I sat down with the designer and created a light plot, seen above, based on the preliminary ques and the set renderings. I as well as the designer attended a rehearsal to solidify the plot before we began hanging lights. I was in charge of the team of people helping with hanging and focusing lights. One responsibility I also had was choosing gels, gobos, and LED colors for the set. Once the lights were hung and focused I programmed the light board with specific ques ad finalizing the que list, seen below. As the production process continued I attended production meetings and rehearsals to ensure that the lights were matching the progress of the show. One rehearsal during tech week was especially important as blocking completely changed for a scene and we had to pause for a moment so that I could reprogram the board to adjust the lights to their new positions. During tech week I trained the light board operator on how to use the board. After the show I lead a team of students in striking the lights. Each picture of the show I have explained more specifically my design of some of the scenes.
